A 22-year-old man was arrested after being charged with illegal possession of a weapon of war. He was arrested at his home in the Tiro Suizo neighborhood last week, as part of an investigation initiated after a video he himself had shared on social media. He was shown loading a shotgun and threatening to kill a person.
Julián Aldo Q. lived in a house at 518th Street, 6300, in the 17 de Agosto neighborhood, but two months ago he moved with his 24-year-old partner and their 3-year-old daughter to a house at 1400 Esteban de Luca Street, in the Tiro Suizo neighborhood. Both said they were unemployed; he had been released last June after being imprisoned for illegal possession of a firearm. Now he's back in prison for the same crime, after being arrested for his own boasting about the weapons he usually carries.

A few weeks ago, a video of the young man reloading a shotgun began going viral on Instagram and WhatsApp. “Look how I'm going to fall on you, you bastard. I'm going to kill you and your grandmother too. Defend her.”, he says. Based on that material, an investigation was launched, which led to a raid last Thursday. This isn't the first time in Rosario that cases have been initiated and arrests made based on content the defendants themselves share on social media, perhaps a phenomenon that is part of the criminal world in which the display of supposed power is part of the prestige that young people seek to build.
During the raid on Julián Q.'s home, the police seized a Bersa .380 caliber pistol with the serial number removed and a Roni Kit, which is a plastic structure shaped like a machine gun on which a gun can be mounted for another type of manipulation. They also found the clothing Q. had been wearing in the video. The shotgun he had used to make the threat was not found at the scene. The young man admitted that he had sold it, along with a bulletproof vest, for $30,000.
Prosecutor Matías Edery, in charge of the investigation, charged him with illegal possession of a weapon of war. Judge Verónica Lamas González confirmed the preventive detention for the statutory period.
Now the prosecutor is seeking to establish whether the boy is part of a criminal group. and whether he was behind any specific act of violence. Investigation sources indicated that he may have acted under the orders of a man linked to Ariel Máximo "Guille" Cantero, who is in prison for, among other crimes, instigating a homicide.
Julián Q. has been accumulating cases for various crimes since 2019. From assault and threats, illegal possession of a firearm, possession of a knife, and attempted robbery to one filed last April for trespassing and possession of a civilian firearm. He was released in early June by order of Judge Gonzalo López Quintana.
