They were invented by Twitter, but hashtags have spread to other social networks as a way to organize conversations and published content. Instagram, the well-known photography network, has long since made them its own and its users are capable of sharing a dozen of these terms that are preceded by hash marks every time they publish an image.
And there are suggestions that tend to be very common on this platform. Terms like "love," "happy," "selfie," "summer," "family," and "girl" are some of the most popular so far this year, according to estimates from the analysis firms consulted. While we haven't seen the official list that the social network provides at the end of the year, we can get an idea of what users use most often. Last year, the term "love" in English was the most frequently used. But there are other very common ones, and sometimes it's not clear when to actually use them.
The term "selfie" basically means self-portrait. Social media, and especially smartphones, which often have front-facing cameras, have made self-portraits in various situations popular. It's a phenomenon.
« It already has more than 360 million captures on the social network with the fastest growth in users. "This places it at number 14 among the most used hashtags on Instagram," say sources at Kaiku Caffè Latte, one of the brands that leverages this social network for its marketing strategies. Its use is somewhat obvious: when you want to tag a personal photo of yourself.
Occasionally, however, a term that reflects a viral trend is elevated to the "hashtag" category. This is the case, given that it means "Throwback Thursday." According to various studies, it is on the list of the ten most used by the 1 billion users of the Facebook-owned platform.
"It all started when a sneaker magazine started showing old sneakers every Thursday. What appeared in a magazine quickly spread to social media, and Instagram users post photos or memories from years ago every Thursday," recall sources from the food company, who emphasize that it can be used freely to express nostalgia among other things.
According to estimates by websta.me, it's the second most used hashtag on Instagram so far this year. And it's no surprise, because this platform evokes positivity and joy. Unlike other networks like Twitter or Facebook, where negativity is more prevalent, everything on the photography network is seemingly "cool" and happy.
It's thanks to the images and the treatment that users with the largest audiences, the so-called "influencers," tend to give them. They use their profiles to share their travels and social events, arousing the envy and admiration of their fans. Therefore, its use is usually applied to photographs that have an important meaning. and are well-received photographically. Along with highlighting overflowing joy, users also frequently use #happy or #travel, according to data collected by metricool.
Instagram users, or "instagrammers," often share highly representative images on their accounts. "Photo of the Day" is often used to present them. This situation is occurring more and more frequently, given that it's another of the most popular hashtags of the moment. To use it, social media experts emphasize, you have to wait for a compelling image that you're proud of or want to claim something for.
Instagram is a network of images, and as we all know, a picture is worth a thousand words. For this reason, influencers have built one of the greatest personal marketing tools currently known around their profile and community. It helps them make themselves known and promote all kinds of commercial products, especially fashion and accessories, which are abundant online. Therefore, many of the users with the most followers often accompany their advertising images or recommendations with this hashtag, which means "Outfit Of The Day." #fashion is another of the most frequently used tags, as is #beautiful.
