Instagram is testing new feed customization options that will allow users to restrict suggestions to posts that contain certain hashtags or specific words.
The company has announced which is carrying out two new tests so that people can further refine what they see in this space of the platform and has recalled what the current options are to define the Instagram experience.
First of all, this service owned by Meta has highlighted that it takes into account the different user interactions in the application to personalize the content it offers and pays special attention to five specific interactions.
These are the probability that users spend a few seconds on a post, that they comment on it, that they like it, share it again or access the profile that published them.
With this, he has clarified that You can add accounts to your favorites to see more posts higher up and more frequently. There are no suggested posts in this view, and the app never makes public who's on a user's favorites list.
Additionally, he pointed out that you can view posts from accounts that appear in the "Following" section in chronological order and access the most recent 30 published content.
Regarding the suggested content, he recalled that recommendations are included in the section 'Explore' and on the eyelashes 'Store' and 'Reels' and that comments can be sent to the platform so that suggested posts are more tailored to users' interests.
Likewise, the control is integrated into the three-point horizontal menu of each publication. 'I'm not interested', an option that, when clicked, instantly removes content from the feed and reduces related suggestions in the future.
With this, he recalled that users can adjust the 'Sensitive Content Control' settings to see more or less content of that type, which has recently strengthened its protection for under 16 years of age.
Additionally, he indicated that there is a possibility that the app will stop showing suggested posts in the feed, which can be temporarily hidden for 30 days.
Along these same lines, Instagram has announced that it is carrying out a series of tests to simultaneously select publications that are not of interest in the 'Explore' section, which can be select with the 'I'm not interested' button both.
Just like this control located in the 'feed', the platform will immediately hide these publications and will avoid displaying related content in the future.
Finally, he has indicated that he will soon begin testing the possibility of users being able to notify the platform that you do not wish to see the content that includes hashtags or certain keywords in the photo or video captions.
According to the company, has not specified when these features will be implemented Officially, it has emphasized that this will serve to refine the search for publications and show them those they like to see or are of interest to them.
