Samsung's foldable mobile phones continue to raise the stakes. It is clear that this brand believes in the potential of this market segment. Otherwise, it would not continue to refine its proposals with the aim of attracting more and more users. This is precisely what this new product is looking for. Galaxy Z Flip4, a mobile that raises the stakes of a Galaxy Z Flip3 which left us with a very good taste in our mouths last year.
As expected, Samsung has updated the hardware of this terminal, which allows this Flip4 to fit well in the high-end range. The photographs that illustrate this article clearly reflect that its aesthetic bet is continuous, but this does not mean that this revision does not incorporate any improvements in the area of design; it has them, and they look good. In any case, its big bet revolves around an experience in which the hinge is the real protagonist.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 5G Android Smartphone, 256GB Foldable Mobile Phone, Bora Purple [Spanish Version] + 45W Ultra-Fast Charger
Before we delve into the hinge and other construction features that set this Flip4 apart from its predecessor, it's worth taking a look at its other features. Let's start with its main screen. It features a touchscreen, Dynamic AMOLED 2X 6.7 inches and Full HD+ resolution (2640 x 1080 pixels), it has a 22:9 aspect ratio and implements adaptive refresh technology capable of adjusting the refresh rate between 1 and 120 Hz. It sounds great.
On the other hand, the small screen housed on the outside of this mobile phone incorporates a panel 1.9 inch Super AMOLED and has a resolution consistent with its size: 260 x 512 pixels. This screen plays an important role in the experience offered by this mobile phone because thanks to it we can pay in stores or check our notifications, among other functions, without having to unfold the smartphone.
As far as the CPU is concerned, as we could foresee, Samsung has opted for an eight-core chip manufactured with 4nm lithography which operates backed by 8 GB of main memory. As far as secondary storage is concerned, nothing new under the sun: this Flip4 is available with 128, 256 and 512 GB.
Another important section in which this terminal takes a step forward compared to its predecessor is the battery, which now has a capacity of 3700 mAhAccording to Samsung, the 50% can be charged from the battery in approximately 30 minutes using a 25-watt or higher power adapter, which must be purchased separately.
And finally, we come to the hinge. Samsung claims that on this Flip4 It is finer than in the Flip3 model, although this is not the only improvement that this foldable smartphone offers us if we stick to its construction. In addition, its edges are straighter (something that many users will probably appreciate) and the lacquered glass that covers the back of the mobile phone contrasts in a quite attractive way with the metal frames, which have a shiny finish.
This is not a terminal with a marked photographic vocation. However, this does not mean at all that it does not offer us interesting photographic features. The front camera incorporates a sensor 10 megapixels with 1.22 μm photodiodes which works in tandem with an f/2.4 aperture lens. Samsung suggests that we take advantage of the hinge's presence to take selfies from various angles by partially folding the Flip4.
On the back of this smartphone there are only two cameras, and not three, because it does not include a telephoto lens. The main unit relies on a 12-megapixel sensor with 1.8 μm photodiodes, an optic with an aperture value of f/1.8 and is stabilized.
For its part, the ultra-wide-angle camera offers us a 12-megapixel sensor with 1.12 μm photodiodes, an optic with an f/2.2 aperture and a 123-degree field of view. A priori, the hardware of these cameras seems balanced to us, although we won't know if their performance is up to par until we have the opportunity to analyze them in depth.
During the software development of this smartphone, Samsung has teamed up with Meta to implement FlexCam, a mode of use that takes advantage of the presence of the hinge to help us take photos by taking advantage of the possibility of partially bending the terminal. The snapshots we take will be automatically optimized and transparent to the user for Instagram, WhatsApp and Facebook.
In addition, Quick Shot mode has been designed to improve our experience both when taking photos and recording videos, and allows us to switch to Flex mode without interruptions if we need to continue recording in hands-free mode without stopping the video. That doesn't sound bad at all. One last note: this software also allows us to take selfies in portrait mode and preview them in their correct aspect ratio when using Quick Shot mode.
This foldable mobile phone can be pre-ordered today, although it will arrive in stores next month. August 26thIt will be available with 8 GB of main memory and 128, 256 or 512 GB of secondary storage with the following prices:
