"Neither cheap prudery nor submission to machismo": Shakira responds to criticism of her song – FMDOS

INTO THE AIR:

The Colombian singer took to her Instagram stories and unleashed heavy artillery against her detractors.
This Wednesday, January 11, Shakira and Argentine producer Bizarrap released the 53rd session of the Argentine album, with powerful lyrics that mercilessly buries to former FC Barcelona footballer, Gerard Piqué.
The Colombian singer closed a trio of songs about her ex after facing a high-profile separation for much of 2022. This - however - is the toughest of the three productions:

It was long awaited A formal statement from Shakira regarding Piqué's alleged infidelity, a fact that would have triggered the subsequent and controversial breakup after almost twelve years of relationship, and with two children in common. Shakira took a while, but now she's let it all out with powerful verses that were set to music by the famous urban producer.
In Shakira and Bizarrap's song, Piqué received strong phrases from his ex like: ««You act so much like a champion and when I needed you, you gave your worst version». «I should have thrown that cat away a long time ago». «A she-wolf like me isn't for rookies, a she-wolf like me isn't for guys like you». «I was too big for you and that's why you're with someone just like you». «I'm not going back to you, not even if you cry or beg me». «I only make music, sorry if it hurt you«.You left my mother-in-law as my neighbor."With the press at the door and the debt at the Treasury." "You thought you'd hurt me and made me tougher. Women don't cry anymore, women bill."
Clara Chía Martí also took a good dose: "He has the name of a nice person, CLEARLY he's not what he sounds like." "No hard feelings, babe. I wish you the best with my supposed replacement." "I'm worth two 22-year-olds, you traded a Ferrari for a Twingo." "You traded a Rolex for a Casio." "A lot of gym work, but work your brain a little too." "I'll free you up tomorrow, and if you want to bring her, she can come too."
Although public opinion has largely been in favor of the singer, the hit of the moment divided opinions and led to a few (quite a few) detractors speaking out. The main focus of criticism directed at Shakira for her song is her children, who are victims of everything being said, although she has also been described as a "resentful" and "vindictive" woman.
In the face of such criticism for Shakira's song, the Barranquilla native responded in her Instagram stories, although not in her own words, but rather quoting an editorial article from the Colombian media outlet The Herald. However, he chose the most powerful paragraph and shared the link to invite his followers to read his entire defense:
"It doesn't matter whether it's Shakira, a world-renowned artist, or the anonymous daughter of a neighbor. Those who arrogate to themselves the right to act, like members of a police force of good manners or elegant forms, to tell excited women how to express their sadness or anger according to conventional norms are wrong. Whoever falls for the gauntlet should take it as best they can." Neither cheap prudishness nor submission to the machismo of a society that cancels women", says part of the text.
