The social network Instagram began the progressive implementation of a function that allows users to share content from the platform through QR codesThis means that posts, locations, and reels can also be shared this way.
QR codes are not a new feature within the platform as they were already used, since August 2020, to share only Instagram profiles quickly and without using the social network's search engine.
With the expansion of the codes, which were initially only available to businesses, users will now be able to generate them from the three-dot menu (available on profiles, posts, reels, and locations) in the mobile version of the app.
To create the QR code on the desktop version of Instagram, you have to add '/qr' at the end of the url (instagram.com/infobae/qr).
According to a spokesperson for Meta, the parent company of Instagram, Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp, and other platforms, this new feature on the social network seeks to "make it easier for people and businesses to share specific content."
Another update gradually adding to Instagram's list of features is the ability to take photos with your phone using the front and rear cameras.
This function, called 'Dual' appears on devices iOS and Android in the side toolbar when the user is about to record a story, whether photo or video. The concept, new to Instagram, is very similar to that used by a rival app called BeReal.
According to journalist Paris Martineau, the similarity between the Dual functionality and BeReal's photography interface is very similar.
In an apparent attempt to copy the popular app BeReal, Instagram is rolling out its own feature (called 'Dual') to take disappearing photos using the front and back cameras simultaneously

The BeReal app is similar to Instagram, except that you can't post as many times as you want; the social network itself notifies you once a day when you need to post. Furthermore, you only have to two opportunities to take a photo with both cameras in a period of time less than two minutes.
In this way, the social network encourages "being real" and showing oneself as oneself without filters (which are not available on this app). Once the post is published, users will be able to access their contacts' photos feed.
Meta is pushing the production of short video content to compete directly with TikTok, which is growing in audience. That is why the functionality of creating a Single reel which can be shared on Facebook and Instagram.
In this way, the publication of the same content at different times is avoided, time is saved due to simultaneous publication, and the Facebook memories and archived Instagram Stories, which can be used to automatically generate a new, unique Reel.
