Meta has announced news for Instagram And although there are several, the most notable of all is undoubtedly the one that will recreate the BeReal phenomenon on its app, which they have already copied on TikTok, apparently without much luck. We will have to see if Instagram has the same luck.
Just in case you're confused, BeReal is the big news of 2022 in terms of social networks., one that is having a resounding success, although due to its nature it seems difficult for it to become established in the current panorama, in which in one way or another, for some niches or others, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Twitter and other platforms share the favor - and more importantly, the time - of users.
BeReal is a French social network that launched in 2020, but its popularity didn't really start until the beginning of this year, especially among younger people, who are still its main focus. It's a photo platform, similar to Instagram, but with a twist: users can only post one image per day at the time the app tells them to. That time is two minutes that vary from day to day, to make matters worse.
The intricacies of BeReal are supposed to favor naturalness, unlike much of the content on Instagram or TikTok, which is mostly fake, and rightly so in many cases. Not only that: on BeReal, If you don't post, you can't see what other users post. or the friends you've added there. It may all sound like a lot of hassle, but it's positioned itself as one of the most downloaded apps of the year for Android and iPhone.
Instagram Candid Stories BeReal
TikTok already tried to copy BeReal, but with videos, through its Now feature, which forces you to publish something in order to see what others have published on Now. And now it's Instagram's turn, which with a new feature called Candid Stories, which could be translated as something like honest stories, will do the same: it will send a daily notification with a time window for posting and only those who use it will be able to see what others post.
Other new features Instagram is working on include notes, a kind of mini-message of up to 60 characters that can be used to embellish or share information on a user's profile; and groups, which is exactly what it sounds like: Instagram limited to a group of people, so everything stays between family, friends, colleagues, etc. However, Candid Stories are the ones that are generating the most buzz for the reasons mentioned above, and that is because the giants are no longer innovating.
It has been seen with Instagram Reels or YouTube Shorts, both copied from TikTok, but also with the aforementioned TikTok Now, copied from BeReal. And it makes more sense, because being part of a social network as ephemeral as what BeReal proposes could well function as a section within a more comprehensive service. Again, we'll have to wait and see if they don't surprise us with some other new trend in 2023.
