After a few months of testing, Instagram began enabling hidden 'Likes' on stories for all users. It's a feature that allows you to reply to posts that last 24 hours without emojis invading your direct message inbox, and it also adds privacy.
The head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, he emphasized in a video published on his profile Twitter that Likes on Instagram stories are private. In other words, only the user who posted this story can see who 'liked' it.

How Instagram Stories Likes Work
Unlike reactions, which are sent directly to a direct message, Likes on Instagram Stories will appear in the views list. Owners will also be able to see who responded with a Like, as a small heart emoji will appear next to the profile picture.
Users will be able to like a story via a new heart-shaped button that will appear at the bottom of the screen, between the paper airplane icon, which is used to share the story, and between the text, which will allow you to reply to this post with a direct message.
Instagram, remember, also includes likes on posts, videos, or reels, but story likes are slightly different. Not only because they're private and only the owner can see them. Also because the so-called Private Story Likes do not show a number (or count) and They disappear after 24 hours, just like stories.
