Earlier this month, Twitter released a feature that's been all the rage on social media: the ability to share a tweet to Instagram Stories. Yes, you can take a screenshot of a tweet you liked or relate to, but it'll look much better if you do it with Twitter's new feature.
Sharing a tweet on Instagram is really simple. Once you've located the tweet, go to the bottom right corner and click the "Share" button; you'll identify it by its icon, which resembles the outline of an arrow. Pressing this option expands a menu with several sharing options. In the first row, you'll find suggested users you frequently interact with on Twitter; in the second row, you'll see the options "Share via," "Copy link," or "Save."
In the third row is the option we're looking for: 'Instagram Stories,' which you'll find alongside other apps like WhatsApp and Facebook. When you select the option to share with Instagram, you'll automatically be redirected to an Instagram story where you'll see a screenshot of the Tweet. You'll be able to see the user who tweeted it, as well as the number of comments and likes the post has on Twitter. That's it—your contacts will now be able to see the tweet in your Instagram stories.
However, one important thing missing from the new Twitter option is the ability to link from the Instagram story to the Twitter post. This means your users will be able to view the tweet in your story, but they won't be able to click there to go to the tweet. Instead, if they want to, they'll have to go directly to Twitter and search for the tweet there.
Although we can't deny that this option is a giant step towards the unification of social media. We've seen, since the arrival of TikTok, how social networks compete with each other, even instant messaging apps like Telegram and WhatsApp. However, the company with the blue bird is smarter: if you can't beat your enemies, join them. Ultimately, Twitter seems to have a cleaner competition, where, instead of wanting to overshadow other social networks, it includes functions that allow users to integrate multiple social networks. This is the case with the new option of share tweets.
