In dialogue with The Latest News, Valdés said the competition arose because "it's a fact that any cosmetic surgery has a significant cost. The clinic alone usually exceeds a million or reaches two million. Added to that is the cost of the team involved: the specialist, the anesthesiologist, assistants, nurses, etc. So, it's true that This type of treatment is beyond the financial means of many middle-class or lower-income people.“.

The winner will be chosen by the specialist's team, who will contact the pre-selected patients to find out the veracity of their stories. The surgeon stated that "we are going to choose people who will teach the rest of us how to move forward."
The prize consists of surgery with Dr. Héctor Valdés and his entire team, including medical fees and operating room costs, with a limit of up to seven million pesos for each procedure.
The winners are expected to be announced on December 24th, "or the following days, but it will be around Christmas time," said Valdés, adding that "many applications have come in, so I think I'll probably attend to more than just a few."
