Colombian singers and influencers who will be going to the World Cup – El Tiempo

Just hours before the opening of the World Cup in Qatar, there has been controversy over which celebrities will attend the event, amid allegations of discrimination, corruption, and human rights violations.

For example, Dua Lipa, Mel C of the Spice Girls, Rod Stewart, streamer Ibai Llanos, and Shakira herself rejected invitations from the organizing committee to participate in this important sporting event.

Influencer Mauricio Gómez, better known as La Liendra, announced on his Instagram account that he'd spent a fortune to go to the World Cup. "We're going to the World Cup. Here we go, Qatar," he wrote on social media. He'll be going with his friend DaniBet.

Urban music artist Maluma will also be attending the World Cup, but he did decide to perform at the event despite criticism. The singer stated that participating "is a childhood dream."
Black Eyed Peas, Nicki Minaj, Clean Bandit and Sean Paul will also perform at the opening of the event. It was expected that J Balvin was also expected to participate, but ultimately declined the invitation.

Other Colombian artists who did join the World Cup bus include the group Chocquibtown, who announced they will be performing in Qatar next Friday, December 9th. There, they will perform their latest song "Los del vacile."

Other Colombians who, despite not being celebrities, will be participating in the World Cup are Jesús Ferreira, from the United States team but born in Santa Marta; Jonathan Osorio, from the Canadian national team but whose parents are Colombian; and Luis Fernando Suárez, the Costa Rican coach.
