We present you a simple guide to download images from Instagram.
Downloading photos from Instagram is not as easy as it may seem. The social network does not allow you to right-click on a photo and download it, an option that is available on the vast majority of websites. Although it can be inconvenient at times, it is a measure that helps prevent users from misusing other people's photos. However, there are legitimate reasons for wanting to download photos from Instagram, whether they are your own or those of other users who have given their consent.
Although it is a somewhat complicated task, both through Instagram and other methods there are some ways to download the images. Below we will show you several options to do so.
There is no method to download Instagram photos from your account one by one. The only option Instagram has is to allow you to download your entire account history in a bulk package. That includes all the photos and videos that have been uploaded, as well as other things that are most likely of no use to users.
This download method was introduced due to privacy concerns that Facebook (now Meta) had back in the day and is intended to give people more ownership of their data. It may not be a very practical option if you just want to download an image, but it is a good alternative if the goal is to recover old photos that were uploaded to Instagram but deleted from the computer or smartphone. We explain how to do it in four steps:
Sign in to get started
Go to the Instagram website, log in, and click the gear icon on the right where it says “Edit Profile.” Choose “Privacy & Security” from the list of options.
Request download
This will take you to the account privacy page. Once there, scroll down to where it says “Data Download” and click “Request Download.”
get link by email
Enter your email and password again and confirm the account where you will receive a download link. Instagram will begin bundling your data into a downloadable package and then send the link via email. The platform says this can take up to 48 hours, but the email will arrive within an hour or two. And keep in mind that the link is only valid for four days.
Download your data
Once you receive the email, click on “Download Data.” You will be taken to the Instagram site to log in and start the download.
Although you can extract photos from the source code, there are numerous apps outside of Instagram that can be infinitely easier to use. Some of these sites require access to your account data and others have a lot of advertising, but if you know how to choose the right ones, they can be very useful.
In case you want to download more than one image at a time, you are limited to using external Instagram software. Two of the most effective options are 4K Stogram and Save-o-gram, although keep in mind that these are online tools and you have to download them to your computer to use them.
4k stogram
This tool allows you to subscribe to a username, hashtag, or even a location to download images in bulk without having to log into Instagram. It's free to use it twice, but you'll have to pay for unlimited use.
save-o-gram
If you need to be more selective, Save-o-gram allows selected images to be downloaded all at once as a zip file or individually. The first seven days are free, after which there is a fee.
Although you can extract photos from the source code, there are many apps outside of Instagram that can be infinitely easier to use. When using them, it is important to know that some of these websites require access to your account data or have a lot of advertising that can sometimes be uncomfortable.
DownloadGram
DownloadGram is one of the most attractive options for downloading photos from Instagram, as it does not require the installation of any software. It can be used on both computers and mobile devices and allows you to download videos or reels. Perhaps the main disadvantage is that you can only download one piece of media at a time. Its use is very simple. You must copy the link of the photo you want to download and then insert it into DownloadGram. The application will automatically take the photo.
iGram
Another of the best known is iGram, an online website designed to download images from Instagram. One of its distinguishing features is that it has been designed to be easy to use on any device. Like DowloadGram, to use it you must copy the link of the photo you want to download and paste it into the search engine.
DreDown
If you want to download videos, DreDown is a highly recommended option. This website works in a very similar way to the previous ones. You must copy the link from the video post and paste it on the website. Although it is very effective, there are many ads and that can be a bit uncomfortable.
Instagram makes it much easier to download your own stories. To do so, simply click on the three vertical dots at the bottom right of the story and choose “Save Photo.” Older stories can be found in your profile by clicking on the menu icon and selecting “Archive.”
