When Jennifer Lopez stood on a bar at the age of 50 pole dancing in it halftime of the Superbowl It's already become clear that the singer of Puerto Rican descent's physical characteristics are anything but conventional. This has been corroborated in recent months by a documentary about her life, in which the draconian work and exercise routines to which she subjects herself can be seen. And also, last Monday, the images she herself shared from the bed in the Las Vegas hotel where she spent her wedding night with Ben Affleck, after marrying him 20 years after a failed first attempt, in which a physical defiance of time can be seen (she just turned 53). Particularly striking is the naughty image she took lying down in bed, in which, despite the complicated position, you can make out her neck in which none of the obvious signs of aging typical of anyone over the age of forty are present: no wrinkles, no double chin, no sagging skin.
The singer and actress has recently launched her own line of skin care –JLo Beauty-, but a wrinkle-free neck at that age is difficult to achieve by applying creams alone, although Marta Barrero and Elena Ramos, pharmacists and experts in dermocosmetics and directors of The Secret Lab, They do admit that hydration is a key aspect to maintaining a youthful-looking neck.: “Both the skin on the neck and décolleté require large doses of hydration. We should use specific moisturizers, as their composition, texture, etc. will be different, much more emollient [thick] than other types of creams. In any case, if we do not have a specific cream, it will always be better to apply our facial moisturizer than not to apply anything; Oils and serums are the perfect complement; and it's essential to exfoliate well, if possible, weekly."
It's very common on Hollywood red carpets to see elongated faces colliding directly with wrinkled necks, because facial surgery is much easier than other areas of the body. Hands are always a giveaway, but there's a reason why the neck is too:Their skin is thinner and less exposed to external factors than the face, so it tends to be more delicate. Although we're quite familiar with our daily beauty routine for our face, we often forget about these two areas where skin aging is most noticeable. That is to say, we should always focus facial care on the neck and décolletage and continue with treatments there. Specific care is usually needed when collagen begins to decline,” Barrero and Ramos add.

Although only Jennifer Lopez knows the routines she follows to achieve a perfect neck, contemporary dermocosmetics offers solutions for a complete makeover of this area of the body.
1. Apply SPF daily
As is known by all, The first factor of skin aging (both on the face and on the rest of the body) is solar radiation. Therefore, it is key to apply protection every day of the year: "Always protect the skin of the neck and décolleté very well from the sun when we wear it uncovered. To prevent the appearance of spots, the basic and fundamental thing is to apply sun protection. You can also use products that help renew the skin (exfoliants) and inhibit and control melanin synthesis (these are better in serum)," they advise from The Secret Lab to S Moda.
2. Reaffirm
«The skin on the neck sags more noticeably, so it is essential to prevent it with firming and redensifying agents. Moisturizing and nourishing products that firm, such as AMD, antioxidants and active in the synthesis of collagen and elastin such as vitamin C, and fat reducers if needed, such as caffeine", Barrero and Ramos add.
3. Reduce double chin
Obviously, another specific problem in the area is the double chin, which, in addition to being reduced with exercise and weight loss, "can be treated with products and in-salon treatments, just like the rest of the neck and décolletage area," they indicate.
4. Treat the area
Of course, in addition to caring for it daily and as soon as possible, the area can be treated with more conscientious and timely care: "If we are looking for greater effectiveness, we can use a specific product for the neck and décolleté that treats that area in a more precise and effective way. For example, Dr. Perricone’s Cold Plasma Sub-D Neck or Neostrata’s Skin Active Firming Neck and Décolletage cream,” they recommend.
5. Tighten
The well-known "tightening effect" is also vital for the neck: "Our cosmetic bag cannot be without tightening effect products that They incorporate activators of collagen synthesis, responsible for skin firmness, such as adenosine, centella asiatica or some peptides.
6. Use retinol
If the star active ingredient against facial wrinkles is retinol, here too: "At home, the ideal is to apply firming and regenerating active ingredients, such as retinol, and moisturize the area a lot."
7. Apply radiofrequency
"In the salon, radiofrequency (INDIBA, EVOCARE, etc.) is the ideal treatment for firming, thickening, and smoothing the skin, improving the appearance of the neck and décolletage in a single session, as it stimulates the synthesis of collagen and elastin, achieving a true push-up effect," Barrero and Ramos add.

8. Massage the area
Aside from applying cosmetics every time—always upwards, never downwards—another type of passive exercise is recommended: "We can use tools like jade rollers or Gua Sha to spread these products and massage the area, achieving extra effectiveness. Manual massages like the Kobido also work brilliantly. This massage works deeply into the neck muscles to release tension, firm the skin, and brighten it thanks to essential oils," they tell us.
9. Exercise and tone up
If they work for the body, they work for the neck too: "Postural measures and toning exercises such as wall push-ups (placing the palms of your hands on the wall at shoulder height, bending your elbows, bringing your body as low as possible to the wall, and holding the position for a few seconds) are very helpful. Stretching exercises and chin tucking, stretching sideways, and some yoga postures, such as the cobra, are also great. Cold showers and circular massages tone the skin and work brilliantly, without requiring any financial or time effort."
10. Facial yoga
It is not new information that the facial yoga keeps facial skin looking younger. That's why we consulted with an expert on the subject Maiko, to recommend the optimal exercises for the chin and neck area:
