If we talk about highly successful Colombian influencers, we must undoubtedly mention Luisa Fernanda W; The Paisa native is one of the most followed content creators in the country. To date, she has 18 million followers on Instagram, a testament to her popularity. Additionally, Luisa Fernanda Cataño Ríos (her given name) has also ventured into the world of business, music, acting, and presenting.
Now, how did Luisa Fernanda W become the famous public figure she is today? How did she get started on social media? Well, the businesswoman has shown how much she enjoys sharing anecdotes about her life and work through social media. Last Sunday, December 18, she published a video on Instagram that she titled: “Part one of how I started making videos on the internet while putting on makeup.”
It's worth remembering that the Paisa native has been creating content for social media for approximately ten years, or even more.
After the aforementioned social networks came Facebook and later Cataño Ríos found Youtube and the world of youtubers, the first ones he saw were of American origin, in addition to the Mexican Werevertumorro.
“I wanted to make videos because I thought it was really fun. The first channel I created was called WTF, it was a really cool channel. After that, Instagram updated the ability to upload videos, and that's when Luisa Fernanda W went viral… and people asked me for more and more videos, and I said, 'What am I going to make a video about?' I started remembering stories my friends told me or personal anecdotes, and I captured them in these 15-second videos.”
At first, the influencer wasn't aware of the potential for earning money through social media, as her work on these platforms was based solely on how much she enjoyed creating content and nothing else.
“Later, I learned about all the opportunities offered by social media and realized I could generate income. That's when I decided to travel to Los Angeles, where they held conventions where they taught content creators how to create content… I started recording all the talks. When I arrived in Colombia, a friend helped me translate, and I put everything I learned into practice. That's when my social media took off. It was crazy, but it was also thanks to the dedication and effort I put into it from day one.”
Speaking specifically about the material she's shared on social media as an influencer throughout her career in this field, the Paisa native initially focused on publishing comedy videos. In fact, last August, she recalled some of the videos she published early in her journey as a content creator for social media and other digital platforms. At the time, she shared this on her Instagram Stories:
“…I'm going to share videos from my early days here on my Stories, which make me laugh a lot, really funny… like I start watching and I had no qualms about making videos, I was also very young. I grew up and I don't know if it's because you mature or you just don't identify with things anymore, but it doesn't flow to me anymore, it doesn't flow to me like that anymore, it used to come naturally to me.”
