A Spanish freediver fainted at a depth of 125 metres while trying to break the world diving record. Miguel Lozano, world runner-up in this discipline, descended without an oxygen tank in the waters of Honduras and had to be quickly assisted by his assistants.
The terrifying moment was recorded on video. The freediver can be seen losing consciousness and one of the divers He covered his mouth so that he would not inhale water.Another diver helped keep Lozano's body upright as they ascended, and a third unclipped him from the guide line.

Upon reaching the surface, Lozano was immediately treated by doctors. The Barcelona-born freediver shared the video on his Instagram account to show the setbacks that can occur in this sport and to thank his team.
In his post, he stated: “We often try to hide accidents in apnea so as not to give a bad image and bring apnea closer to the general public. Syncope rarely occurs, but when it does happen, as part of our sport and with the appropriate protocols, as you can see in the video (and as would happen in other sports such as climbing) I had no consequences.”

He also stated that his team played a major role in achieving his goal: “Thanks to the Roatan Freediving team, who performed impeccably and mentally enabled me to tackle this world record attempt.”
Lozano dived to a depth of 121 metres in Honduras in 2016. Only three people in the world have reached that depth.
The current world record for freediving with bifins is held by Frenchman Arnaud Jerald, who reached a depth of 120 metres and achieved it in one minute and 34 seconds.
